Services for Special Education Provided Through MCESC

MCESC provides a variety of services to participating area schools. The assistance we provide is cost-effective and gives local children the chance to participate in special programs.

Emotionally Disturbed

  • Teach social skill intervention service for both special & regular education students
  • Inservicing and identification of ED students
  • Inservicing for regular education staff to improve classroom management skills

 

Multiple Disabilities Program

  • Provide 13 MD classrooms across the county
  • Provide instruction and experience based opportunities in the community to learn job and daily living skills for successfully participating in the community
  • Operate transition class for students 18-22

 

Psychological Services

  • Facilitate intervention assistance teams in devising strategies to help students be more successful
  • Consult with parents and teachers regarding issues that affect student performance
  • Provide psycho-educational evaluations
  • Assess student ability, achievement, learning style, behavior, and social/emotional status
  • Conduct group and individual counseling in the school setting
  • Coordinate screening & evaluation of preschoolers throughout the county
  • Work with special education teachers to coordinate services for children
  • Provide in-service to teachers on current issues in education
